  New China City is a pleasant enough Chinese (could you guess?) restaurant in Southport.
  
  From the outside, the place looks a bit dark and dingy as well as a bit dated but once inside the restaurant does look a bit more appealing and welcoming without being too contemporary.
  
  The menu there contains the usual variety of Chinese and Cantonese dishes that you might expect from a restaurant like this, all of which are pretty reasonably priced and well cooked and presented.
  
  It's also a decent place to go if you're in a big group, as I did once for a work Christmas do, during which you can choose dishes from a set menu for an inexpensive price.  The restaurant is big enough to accommodate quite large groups, with around fifteen of us fitting around a couple of tables pretty cosily.  The only negative I do have from that night was the rather annoying cabaret singer they decided to have in the restaurant whilst dining; she wasn't bad, but it's hardly what you'd want to hear whilst trying to chow down on some spring rolls or spare ribs.

  Used to eat here a lot  in fact we went there for my 21st birthday  but was disappointed when I went in a few weeks ago. Food was uninspired and expensive, it was early tea time (6ish) and there weren't very many people there which meant it lacked atmosphere.

  Have eaten here in the past and it was lovely. Then we made the mistake of getting a takeaway and it was horrible. Never been back
